In October last year I was surfing several times to the site and blog of Jerry Ghionis. The reason I surfed several times was not only because I liked his work so much but as well because I noticed he planned a workshop in Paris. I doubted for quite a while if I would participate in this workshop. Not only did I have to think about the financial part but even more was my doubt: am I good enough?? After a bit of thinking I decided to go for it. I mean... what did I have to loose??
The months passed by and I was looking forward to go to Paris. Even more since my good friend and colleague Liesbeth decided to come along with me. We made plans and booked our hotel! Suddenly it was last monday and the big day arrived. The workshop would start at 13:30. Is it necessary to say that Liesbeth and me were so nervous to meet mister Ghionis himself??? I mean, come on... he is like the best wedding photographer in the whole world!!! So, we arrived at the workshop and of course we had the small conversation who would open the door and step in first... I can't even remember who did but once we entered, it seemed like my heart was jumping out of my chest.
Finally we got started and our biggest fear of having to show our photos first became reality... Jerry started commenting on the pictures of Liesbeth. after Liesbeth, it was my turn. I was wishing so much to have a big white Martini next to me . But my fear was really not necessary. Jerry said nice things and of course there were things to improve but after all I was very happy with my comments!! The day went on, our nerves were gone and we started to enjoy the whole experience. At about 22:30 we stepped out for our walk along the Champs-Elysées towards our hotel and were already impressed with our first day. Tired but very happy we talked ourselves into the night and started to dream about Jerry and all of his explanations...
Tuesday started of with theory, posing tips & tricks and how to improve our images. In the afternoon we went to the Eiffel Tower area to watch Jerry shooting and to shoot ourselves some images. We had a blast!! It was so very hot that afternoon...that even people were swimming in the pools around the Eiffel Tower! We got each 10 minutes to shoot the picture we had in mind and to show that we have learned something. Again, my nerves started to play around with me... my head was exploding and I couldn't think clearly any more! The pictures of these moments will follow later.
For now, I'll leave you with some ambient pictures of that week. By the end of next week, I'll post some more about the workshop of Jerry, photos we took and ambient images!
Take care!
